Discernment

What is discernment?noun
noun: discernment
  1. 1.
    the ability to judge well.
    "an astonishing lack of discernment"
  2. 2.
(in Christian contexts) perception in the absence of judgment with a view to obtaining spiritual direction and understanding.
"without providing for a time of healing and discernment, there will be no hope of living through this present moment without a shattering of our common life"  ( taken from Google search dictionary)

Every being has discernment. Animals as well as humans make judgments based on various factors such as instinct, experiential knowledge, known criteria, etc. I find the second definition of discernment interesting as it refers to "Christian contexts" with regard to spiritual direction and understanding. I believe anyone regardless of religion or belief system has discernment. If a person uses discernment to "obtain spiritual direction and understanding" is wholly their choice. The question is, can one receive information or knowledge through discernment? If you pray, meditate or seek higher knowledge of spiritual truths or truth of any kind; it can be done through discernment.

How is this done? For me it comes from asking, being still to "listen" for the answer or truth, and being open to do this. If your mind cannot grasp this concept due to lack of perception or a closed mind, this will be difficult to do. First you must open your mind to the possibility and then you must actively practice discernment through your spiritual self. Through my Christian upbringing, I learned I can pray for discernment. This information is delivered by God through the Holy Spirit. God also uses angels to assist us in our earthly life. What a wonderful blessing. Yes, even for those who do not believe in God or angels. We were promised and given eternal life through our soul existence. In my Reiki training, I learned discernment through understanding life force energy or universal energy ( definition of Reiki). For me, Reiki has allowed me to sense energy on a more physical level.

Furthermore, discernment on a spiritual aspect has allowed me to recognize angelic contact. The more you practice discernment you will find it becomes easier to discern between God and angels. As you learn, realize you are tapping into an amazing realm that has a delicate balance. Light and dark, good and bad. Both exist to create balance in this existence. Just as there is negative and positive poles in a magnet or the Earth itself. I do not recommend interaction with the negative aspect. Know it exists and let it be.

Some of us have gotten to a point where discernment is tangible, such as ringing in the ears. This is not tinnitus. This is completely different. I have confirmation that my ear ringing has not caused hearing loss as 90% of tinnitus sufferers do lose hearing. My ear ringing began in 2011. March 11, 2011, the day of the 9.0 earthquake that struck Japan, causing a 133 ft. wave tsunami. That morning, I rolled over in bed knowing it was almost time to get up my son for school and me to work, a typical morning. Except it was anything but typical. As I rolled to my left, stretching my head and neck, I felt a tremendous sharp, searing pain in my neck, mixed with a sense of spinning into the bed causing me to feel queasy and terribly frightened. My instant thought was an aneurysm. I rode out the wave of constant spinning and pain, just waiting for the end...praying. It began to lessen and I became more brave to try and move again. It took several minutes to sit up. Like running a mile and needing to rest with each movement. But I knew I needed to get to my 13 year old son for help and his room was at the other end of our home. 30 minutes later, I got to his room and was able to wake him. By then, the episode was subsiding, but I was winded and scared. By the time he was ready for school I felt better and knew it wasn't life threatening. I called in sick to work as movement made the symptoms increase. Just when I had come to a Google search conclusion that it was vertigo and possibly Meineres disease, it abruptly stopped in the afternoon.

It was 5:46 a.m. when the earthquake struck Japan, approximately the same time I would be waking. However, 5:46 UTC is 1:46 p.m. my time. Which means when the quake hit, my symptoms went away. Prior to this incident, I had experienced vertigo only once, in a parked car on a slight incline that seemed to move when I shifted my gaze from down to up and that lasted only seconds. This was mind-blowing for me. And frightened me. Yet, once I saw the news of the quake and the timing, I understood completely through discernment. Many years before that, I had found that my body would get a dull headache when large earthquakes, 7.0, would occur. I began checking for it each time and found it was accurate. It made perfect sense that a 9.0 quake would cause not only a headache but vertigo. It took me by surprise as I had found a way to ignore the Earth's energy from quakes. I realize now, that I must pay attention with discernment to know what is happening to me via energy from the planet.

Scoff or agree, you will never understand unless it happens to you. I know others have experienced similarly though. I began searching on the net and found many discussions of people experiencing vertigo, ear-ringing or buzzing, high pitch sounds, nightmares and premonitions. As a matter of fact, for weeks leading up to the quake, I had been experiencing strange sounds. It began with a dull buzz, almost in the background, that I only heard at home when I was quiet. It turned into a clear high pitched tone that I heard constantly, but especially when quiet or alone. It dissipated the most at work thankfully. As if my body would turn down the volume to drown out or ignore it. But then the sharp bell tones began. They were so vivid, as if someone had a hand bell in front of me, that I would jump when I heard it. Try explaining that when you work in an office. Luckily, a co-worker who became a friend completely understood. All this lead up to the day of quake, which in turn caused severe vertigo that ended when the quake struck.

So yes, I believe in discernment. This is just my greatest example of it. Not only did my body respond to the energy from the planet; I was able to discern what was happening.

If I experience that again....I will let you know. Blessings.
